In the small pacific Island nation of Vanuatu reefs are
being stripped of small colourful fish. According to
Austrailia's ABC News online, the demand for tropical
aquarium fish has surged since the release of the
animated film Finding Nemo. Diving and Tourism
operators in Vanuatu say the reefs are being exploited
by agents for the lucrative trade. Tourism companies
are concerned about the legal trade in fish since the
reefs the aquarium suppliers have targeted are the same
ones used by tourists. The aquarium trade has grown in
Vanuatu with encouragement from the island's Investment
Promotion Authority and licensing from the Government
Fisheries.
The movie ment to teach it's audience that man should
not dominate these little fish and to just let them live
